Rubaga Cathedral
Kampala Place of worship
Lubaga Cathedral, also known as Saint Mary's Cathedral Lubaga, serves as the central church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala.
Situated on Lubaga Hill within the western part of Kampala, the cathedral was constructed between 1914 and 1925, following a land donation by Mwanga II to French Catholic missionaries. The site once held a palace belonging to Kabaka Mutesa I until it was destroyed by fire.
Within its walls lie the remains of Archbishop Joseph Kiwanka, marking his contribution as both the first African Catholic Bishop and Archbishop in Kampala's diocese.
