Moderation Policy

Moderation Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This policy explains how we check reviews and other content on rev.africa.

1. Before publication

  • New reviews may be checked automatically and, where needed, by a moderator before they appear.
  • We look for signs of fake or manipulated reviews: many reviews from one device or network, accounts created only to review one business, copied text, reviews by the business itself or its competitors.

2. What we remove

  • Fake, incentivised or conflict-of-interest reviews.
  • Illegal content, including threats, harassment, hate speech, fraud and content that infringes copyright or privacy.
  • Personal data of third parties, spam, advertising and off-topic content.

3. What we do not remove

We do not remove genuine reviews just because they are negative, and we never remove or hide reviews in exchange for payment. Business owners can reply publicly.

4. Reports

Anyone can report content using the report button or by email to [email protected]. Tell us which content and why. We aim to respond within 7 days and act faster on clearly illegal content.

5. Decisions and appeals

If we remove your review or restrict your account, we will tell you why where possible. You can ask us to reconsider by replying to that message or writing to [email protected]. A different person will look at the appeal.

6. Measures against repeat abuse

Accounts and businesses that repeatedly post or commission fake reviews may be suspended, and the business profile may show a warning to consumers.
