Benin City National Museum
Benin City Museum
The Benin City National Museum, located in the heart of the city on what is now known as Oba Ovonramwen Square, was inaugurated for public access in 1973. This national institution boasts a collection of significant artefacts linked to the Benin Empire, including terracotta figures and bronze sculptures, along with early art pieces. Managed by Nigeria's National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), it plays an essential role in preserving and promoting the country’s cultural heritage.
